The Petrified Forest

The story takes place in an out of the way Arizona roadhouse near the Petrified Forest in 1935. Gabrille Maple (Kappa Victoria Wood) is a pretty young waitress who dreams of a romantic life painting in Europe. Alan Squier (Lane Wray) is the disillusioned intellectual drifter who comes into her life and is touched by her ability to believe and dream of great things. They are suddenly thrown together when Duke Mantee (Tony Cicchetti) and his gang take over the roadhouse while hiding from the cops. The broadway hit starred Leslie Howard and Humphrey Bogart. The film added Bette Davis as Gabrielle.
