"The Diviners" takes its name from the people who search and find water. It's the story of Buddy, a mentally challnenged depression era boy in Zion, Indiana who becomes friends with a disillusioned former preacher named C.C. Showers who is wandering the country trying to find work (and possibly himself).  C.C. is part friend part teacher to Buddy and tries to cure him of his fear of water, which ultimately ends in a horrible tragedy.
